If you have lived in Saint John for any length of time, chances are you have had to buckle up and take on a well known intersection on the city’s west side. “At times it’s a little bit tough,” says Saint John resident Brian Smith who has been driving through the intersection known to locals as Simms Corner for decades.

Officials with the City of Saint John say there is a critical need for industrial land growth at its Spruce Lake Industrial Park on the southwestern edge of the city limits. Saint John Industrial Parks general manager Ian MacKinnon and Envision Saint John CEO Andrew Beckett met with reporters Monday to share how the proposed expansion plan would offer job creation and economic development in the Saint John. The land requires rezoning to allow or heavy industry.

It was a windy and wet weekend in Rothesay, N.B., but that didn’t dampen any spirits for more than 30 boys and girls teams taking the pitch at the 34th RugbyFest. Hosted by Rothesay Netherwood School, this year’s tournament saw teams from 17 schools travel to southern New Brunswick to kick off the start of the high school rugby season. On top of the New Brunswick squads, there were teams from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Ontario competing.
