Police look for public’s help following break in to cabin

RM OF KINISTINO – The RCMP Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory are reporting a break and enter to a cabin. On June 18, the Melfort RCMP received a report of a break and enter that occurred to a seasonal cabin in the RM of Kinistino. A male and female entered the property and stole some items from the building. The suspects were driving a white Jeep SUV that appeared to have a Saskatchewan licence plate on it. The male was dressed in all black clothing and had the hood of the jacket up.
Wildfire evacuees continue returning home in Saskatchewan and Manitoba

Wildfire evacuees continued to make their way home in some Manitoba communities Tuesday, but there were hurdles. Tataskweyak Cree Nation lifted its evacuation order Monday evening, then told the community’s 2,400 residents Tuesday morning the return was being delayed due to problems with the water system. “Water tests came back (with) high aluminum. The pipes and reservoir will need to be cleaned and samples taken after the cleaning,” said a message posted on the chief and council’s Facebook page.

Fire At Strip Mall Under Investigation

A fire in a strip mall is under investigation. Regina Fire fighters were called out to the 4000 block of Rochdale Blvd just before 7:30 last night. They found a fire in a business in the strip mall. The fire was quickly brought under control, preventing it from spreading to near by businesses. No one was injured.
Possible Hepatitis A exposure reported at Regina McDonald’s

REGINA — The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is warning the public on June 12 of a possible Hepatitis A exposure linked to a food service employee at the McDonald’s located at 2002 Aurora Blvd in Regina. The SHA says the food handler, who was involved in preparing all meals, worked at the restaurant during the period of potential exposure, from May 25 to June 5. The location, which lies along a major trans-Canada travel route, is frequently visited by travellers.

Final update: The Saskatchewan Day of Caring radiothon raised more than $643,000 for wildfire relief by 6 p.m. Thursday, with federal matching funds still to come. “What an extraordinary day of generosity and community spirit,” said Glenn Rogers, Golden West content lead. “Nutrien kicked us off this morning by matching donations up to $100,000—and with the public’s overwhelming support and generosity, they were inspired to increase their total donation to $300,000.
Israel attacks Iran: The Latest

Israel attacked Iran’s capital early Friday, in strikes that targeted the country’s nuclear program and raised the potential for an all-war war between two bitter Middle East adversaries. An Israeli military official said that the Israeli Air Force targeted Iranian nuclear and military sites, without identifying them. The official spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing operation. Air-raid sirens preventatively rang out in Israel.
Regina Red Sox fans look to leave legacy for Jesse Lubiniecki

A memorial service for Jesse Lubiniecki will be held on Thursday, June 12, at the Turvey Centre. The 22-year-old Lubiniecki had recently graduated from Taft Community College and was on his way home to play baseball with the Regina Red Sox for the summer, before attending Florida National University in the fall to continue his education on an athletic scholarship. While driving home, Jesse was involved in a fatal single-vehicle rollover accident.

Number of Canadians returning from U.S. trips down again in May: StatsCan

Canadians continued to avoid making trips to the U.S. in May, according to preliminary data from Statistics Canada. The agency says return trips by Canadian residents by air from the U.S. in May fell 24.2 per cent compared with a year ago to 488,800, while return trips from overseas countries rose 9.8 per cent to 1.1 million. Meanwhile, Canadian resident return trips from the U.S. by automobile totalled 1.3 million, down 38.1 per cent compared with May 2024.
