REGINA — Following Wednesday’s executive committee meeting, a permanent emergency shelter in the City of Regina seems likely. City council voted to fund a $7.5-million plan to create the shelter in what is described as “an ideal location with easy access to community service, core city areas and public transit.” The location has yet to be revealed, but the city currently has an offer for it.

That means that the city council will decide on June 12 whether to fulfil the option, which expires on June 19.

REGINA — The search for volunteers is on for Canadian Western Agribition. In partnership with SaskEnergy, CWA launched its 2024 recruitment campaign for volunteers with a new incentive program. Starting this year, new volunteers will be entered into a draw to win two tickets and a meet-and-greet with a superstar performer. Volunteers could win a chance to see and meet Randall King this year. CWA’s Volunteer Committee Chair Mona Taylor says Agribition doesn’t happen without volunteers.

The federal, provincial, and municipal governments joined to celebrate opening four new affordable housing units in the Rosewood Park neighbourhood. The new units at Plainsview Estates consist of four three-bedroom stacked townhomes designed to accommodate eight individuals experiencing mental health and physical disabilities. The tenants will receive in-home support services and connections to community programs provided by Creative Options Regina.
