Reconciliation Australia have reiterated their core priorities for whichever shade of federal government, and broader Parliament, is elected on Saturday amid "rancorous political divisions". The non-for-profit group, described as Australia's lead body for reconciliation, proposed foundational action areas for the next term of government "to set our course towards a reconciled nation that benefits all Australians" in an election platform earlier this month.

The New South Wales government needs to increase the support for the Aboriginal community-controlled sector in delivering holistic support for people impacted by alcohol and drugs, a new report has found. Coming after a landmark four-day summit held in Sydney, Griffith and Lismore into ways to reduce drug-related harms, the report also recommended the government cease the use of drug detection dogs and strip searches at music festivals.

Gunggari and Gubbi Gubbi man Steve Renouf is calling for better access to diabetes education and care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The rugby league legend draws from his own experience living with type 1 diabetes for more than 30 years. Diagnosed during his professional playing career at age 22, Mr Renouf said having the right support early on helped him manage the condition and continue playing at an elite level. "I was lucky," he told National Indigenous Times.
