The “Golden Ticket” campaign is a voucher program that connects the unhoused to food, shelter, and supportive resources. Yes, it’s an actual golden ticket similar to the popular movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Vegas Stronger is a nonprofit that works to end homelessness in the valley.

Las Vegas (KSNV) — As we round out Black History Month, we shine a light on a casino that transformed Las Vegas, the Moulin Rouge. This year marks 70 years since it opened its doors in 1955 over on the Historic Westside. It became the first integrated casino in the country. The casino was a hit with its vibrance and its well-known 2:30 am show. It was also where African Americans could get jobs and not just in the back of the house.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Dr. Monica Larson made history last November by becoming the first Black council member in Henderson. Originally moving to Las Vegas with plans to retire, Larson soon found herself driven to improve public safety in her community. "Henderson is a place to call home because it is home," Larson said. After relocating from California two years ago to the Inspirada neighborhood, she was alarmed by a rise in crime, including home invasions and vehicle thefts.
