The ‘Mamasphere’ — aka the Internet of All Things Mother — blinked into existence in the late ’90s. As dial up hummed to life, mothers connected across borders and in chat rooms for the first time. The first wave of mommy bloggers, most notably Dooce(Heather Armstrong), penned irreverent, unfiltered confessionals on the messy realities of motherhood, and countered the picture-perfect madonnas of traditional media.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve struggled with my mental health…Deep depressions that I can see coming and yet am completely unable to stop enveloping me, rendering me lost, hopeless, and desperate for everyone to both leave me the fuck alone and stay close enough to hug me when I’m ready. Lord knows why I struggle.

They no longer rise when elders enter the room, they contradict their parents and tyrannize their teachers. Children are now tyrants. Socrates, circa 470 BCAs we grow older, we see the world differently…We find it hard to keep up with the constant change, but we’re also happier to sit back and be content, leading to us becoming more conservative (small c).
