East Texas (KLTV) - A First Alert Weather Day is now in effect for Wednesday, April 30. A potent upper-level storm system will push east over the southern plains by the middle of the week, leading to an opportunity for more organized severe thunderstorms by Wednesday afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center has placed northern and northwestern portions of East Texas under a Slight Risk (Level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms.

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Good evening, East Texas! Mostly cloudy skies will persist through the evening as afternoon showers and thunderstorms taper off tonight. Any spots that warmed into the 70s for the afternoon will drop into the 60s tonight, but for many, temperatures will hold in the 60s where they’ve been through most of the day. More showers and thunderstorms are expected tomorrow, and again on Friday.

EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) - Happy Monday, East Texas! We’ll see mostly sunny to sunny skies this afternoon as temperatures climb into the lower 80s. Light winds are expected today. While a few showers and an isolated thunderstorm will be possible through the afternoon in the Sam Rayburn Reservoir area and Toledo Bend Country, most of us will stay dry today. Tomorrow, there will be a chance for rain again in the forecast for these same areas.

We’ll see plentiful sunshine again today, warming temperatures into the upper 70s. A few places could make it into the low 80s this afternoon. Plan for a breezy day with south winds gusting into the 20 mph range this afternoon. Tomorrow, a cold front moves through the area, but not before we have highs in the low 80s.

The forecast for the rest of the week remains on track, highs near 80/in the 80s for most of the rest of the week. Winds will pick up tomorrow ahead of a front on Thursday, this front will not do much for us. The forecast remains dry through the coming weekend, rain possibly returning early next week.
