23 1/1 Volunteers have been working hard to make sure Durham Cathedral looks its best for tomorrow's Royal Maundy Service. Durham will be welcoming King Charles and Queen Camilla when they will meet specially invited guests and hand out Maundy money tomorrow morning. This will be the first time since 1967 that the historic service has been held in Durham, when Queen Elizabeth II distributed the Maundy money.

Today's Object of the Week is an early 20th-century puzzle game currently on display at a County Durham culture and heritage venue. The Allied Flags board game is one of the central features of an exhibition that aims to shine a light on children throughout history. The game is part of a temporary exhibition called 'Welcome to Our County: The Children of Yesterday and Tomorrow,' in The Story, on the outskirts of Durham City.

Today's Object of the Week is one of the earliest surviving purpose-built railway structures in the country. The oldest surviving railway structure in York - and one of the earliest surviving in the world - is to be restored as a brass band rehearsal space. The Grade II-listed water tower, built in 1839, is to be given a new lease of life by Network Rail. The building, which has fallen into disrepair, is to be transformed into a base for the York Railway Institute (RI) Band.
