BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSAV) – It is your chance to shine on stage, possibly make some cash and help a local theater at the same time. The Bluffton Youth Theater is hosting “Lowcountry’s Got Talent” on June 6. The show allows people of all ages from all across the Lowcountry to show off whatever their talent may be. There will be singers, dancers, magicians and a variety of other acts. Anyone from 10 through adulthood is eligible to participate.

RIDGELAND, S.C. (WSAV) — Fighting the battle off the battlefield. A Lowcountry charitable organization is doing just that every day, helping veterans deal with life away from combat. OPFOB hopes they can bring light to a critical issue by keeping the fire burning. “It’s their way of giving back and raising awareness and spreading the word about, on average, the 22 to 44 veterans a day that we’re losing to suicide,” said JR Brown, Founder of OPFOB.

SOUTH CAROLINA (WSAV) – South Carolina is now leading the nation in a new category, banned books. The South Carolina Board of Education voted to take 10 more books off school library shelves on Tuesday. That brings the total to 22 different titles banned from schools. The books were all challenged by a Beaufort County woman for their inappropriate or sexual content.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV) — Hilton Head Island’s Mayor is talking about beach parking, and the rumors he wants big changes to the new town policies. Two months ago, the island instituted new fees for visitors to park at the beach and not everyone in the area is happy about having to pay up. But could changes be coming? Town Council previously approved parking fees for all beach parking lots except for Coligny Beach.

BEAUFORT, S.C. (WSAV) — Big changes could be coming to Beaufort County Schools, and potentially to your wallet. The school district is asking for a $17 million budget boost for 2026 with much of that money going toward raising starting teacher salaries. The proposed budget would bump up starting pay for new and early-career teachers to just over $60,000 a year, which would match a fifth-year teacher level.
