WJCL (channel 22) is an ABC-affiliated television station based in Savannah, Georgia. It is owned by Hearst Television and has its transmitter located in the unincorporated area of western Chatham County, close to Bloomingdale. The station's studios are situated within the Savannah Morning News building on Chatham Parkway in Savannah. This building also previously housed WTGS (channel 28), a Fox affiliate licensed to Hardeeville, South Carolina, which is now owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group and operates independently from WJCL.

After 16 days of intensive efforts involving multiple agencies, volunteers, and community members, the active search for a 55-year-old Jose Hernandez Garcia, a missing bridge worker has now been suspended. On April 7 Garcia, a bridge painter, fell into the Ogeechee River near the I-95 overpass in Bryan County. Since the initial report, a coordinated search effort involving local, state, and volunteer agencies has been underway.

Two people were shot early Saturday morning at a hotel on Abercorn Street, according to the Savannah Police Department.Officers responded to the Extended Stay America hotel around 2 a.m. and quickly established a perimeter at the rear of the building, where the shooting occurred.Police said a man and a woman were injured in the shooting and taken to a hospital. Their conditions have not been released.As of Saturday morning, authorities have not confirmed whether a suspect is in custody.
