Convenience stores are taking more steps in their rapid expansion across the United States, with two regional chains announcing plans for further store openings this year. The Mid-Atlantic chain Wawa said it will open 60 additional stores in Virginia, mainly in the western part of the state. Kwik Trip, a Midwest-focused chain, unveiled plans to expand into its seventh state with four more stores planned for greater Fargo, North Dakota.

Atlanta Braves expand office property holdings with deal near stadium

The Atlanta Braves lost their first six games of this year’s baseball season, but the losing streak didn’t stop the team’s parent company from making a big acquisition in the city’s office market. Atlanta Braves Holdings paid $93 million to Rubenstein Partners for the six-building Pennant Park office complex located near the team’s stadium, according to the company. The buildings are about 80% leased with Home Depot being one of the largest tenants, according to the Braves.
Another struggling downtown Atlanta office tower hits the market

One of the office towers in downtown Atlanta’s Peachtree Center complex has been listed for sale, the latest sign of activity in an office market that has been plagued by high vacancy rates. Brokers at JLL this week listed 230 Peachtree St. for sale at $14 million, or $50 per square foot, according to marketing materials. The building includes offices and a Hotel Indigo, but the listing does not specify whether both the offices and hotel are part of the sale offering.
Historic Dearborn Inn on Ford Motor campus reopens after restoration

The Dearborn Inn, a historic hotel built by Henry Ford within a Ford Motor Co. complex near Detroit, reopened in March after a two-year restoration project. Built in 1931, the Dearborn Inn is a 135-room hotel managed by Marriott as part of its Autograph Collection of upper-upscale properties. Rooms start at $350 per night, and the hotel includes a “grand Presidential suite.” Ford Motor did not disclose the costs of the renovation.
