The Madison Police Department is mourning the death of K9 Astra.The department said Astra was diagnosed with cancer in November 2024, and after a "valiant battle," died on Wednesday. A barge hit the old Highway 80 railroad bridge over the Mississippi River in Vicksburg. David Day, with the Vicksburg Daily News, reported that a tow boat with more than a dozen barges was traveling the river on Thursday, when some of the barges broke free. One of the barges hit the railroad bridge and another drifted to the Interstate 20 bridge, but didn't appear to do any damage. Traffic on the I-20 bridge was not affected Thursday afternoon, Day reported.
