Szakonyi noted that over 300 children participate in programs across the county that include homework help and enrichment activities that provide academic and personal success. There is something for all children from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Anita GoodanThe Winamac Town Council members took action Monday, April 14 to unanimously approve an ordinance that would create a four-way stop at two intersections in town. The two intersections are at Agnew and 16th Street and at Franklin and Narrow Streets. The ordinance needs to be published before it can be enforced. Drivers are encouraged to watch for the change in traffic pattern at those intersections. The town council also unanimously approved an Arbor Day Proclamation.

Anita GoodanThe North Judson Town Council last week unanimously appointed Andrew Hughes to fill a vacant seat on the North Judson Park Board. He was the lone candidate who submitted a letter of interest and who fit the necessary requirements for filling that seat. The council members also opened bids for cemetery mowing. The town received only one bid which came from Gary and Sons. The company conducted the work last year.

Two projects will be starting in the Town of North Judson that will greatly benefit the community. North Judson Town Manager Joe Leszek informed the North Judson Town Council members last week that the Community Crossings Matching Grant project will begin this week. The grant includes paving projects on W. Weninger Street from S. Garfield Ave. to George Street, E. State St. from George St. to Schricker Ave., N. Garfield Ave. from Cherry St. to W. Vine St., W. Vine Street from Sheridan Ave.

Pulaski County, IN – On April 11, 2025, Ralph E. Cotner was taken into custody in connection with an incident that occurred at 6336 West 400 South, Winamac, involving alleged intimidation with a deadly weapon. The incident stemmed from a dispute over tire tracks left in a soft right of way, approximately 3–5 feet into an unplanted field owned by the victim.
