The fifth annual School City of Mishawaka Mental Health Day event took place at Central Park. The event aims to raise awareness around mental health and wellness in the community. Organizer Jennifer Sanders says the annual event began after the pandemic. "We did a whole campaign in our corporation called the ONE Campaign, which is where one day in the sun came from. And the point of it was just to point out that one person can make a difference.

Phillip Lake said his parents' headstone was one of seven damaged after a car crashed into a row of graves at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Some were cracked while others were knocked off their foundation. Lake says seeing the damage in person was especially shocking as he is still coping with the loss of his father just over a year. "It's not even been a year, and now there's this kind of damage that who's responsible for? Do we have to now take care of this on our own? Will the people be able to help out?

The South Bend School board has rejected the only bid it received for several capital investment projects. The biggest one being the addition of a medical magnet at Washington High School. The others are restroom renovations at Dickinson, Darden and Edison elementaries. The board unanimously voting to turn down the only offer they got on the renovation projects and send it back to the bidding process.
