Carlos Andrés Ascué Tumbo, a 30-year-old Indigenous land guardian and educator, was the 115th social leader killed in Colombia this year. He served as a member of the Kiwe Thegnas (or Indigenous Guard of Cauca) and protected the communities’ forests, land and youth from illegal armed groups and coca cultivation. The Indigenous territory and land surrounding it has become a hub for drug trafficking causing deforestation and land degradation.

Lucerne, September 3, 2024 – Since 2001, the getAbstract International Book Award has been presented annually to titles that focus on current economic and business-relevant topics in a remarkable way. The winners of the “Business Impact” category will be announced on October 17, 2024 during the Frankfurt Book Fair, while the winners in the “Learning Impact“ category will be announced on October 24, 2024. This year, the jury will evaluate books published between July 2023 and June 2024.
