    LYNNFIELD — Lynnfield’s boys tennis team ran its winning streak to seven with a dominant 5-0 win against visiting Pentucket (2-3) Wednesday afternoon to remain undefeated at 7-0 (4-0 Cape Ann League). However, it was far from easy. Both teams battled cold temperatures and blustery wind gusts from start to finish, which wreaked havoc on ball tosses. Senior captain Shea McCarthy said winning the wind battle was just a matter of patience and adjustment to normal routines.

    PEABODY — On days when you don’t get a lot of hits, you have to make the most of what an opponent gives you. That’s exactly what the Peabody Tanners (1-1) did Thursday, April 10 in a 7-2 win against Northeastern Conference foe Marblehead (2-2). Peabody had only six hits, but made the most of six walks and three hit batsmen, five of whom scored. A sixth run came home on a daring double steal – two of seven steals the Tanners had in the game.

    LYNNFIELD — Sometimes, you have to find a way to win the ugly ones. That’s exactly what the Lynnfield Pioneers did last Wednesday against visiting Newburyport, overcoming a 5-3 early deficit and handing the Clippers a 16-6 loss in a game that took more than three hours. Lynnfield Coach Hector Longo jokingly  described the game as “the longest softball game in history.”The Pioneers broke the game wide open with a six-run fourth inning to take the lead for good at 10-5.

    The Peabody girls track team won an exciting, hotly contested track meet at home over the Beverly Panthers 76-60 on April 9. Alessandra Forgione set a school record in the javelin with a throw of 136′. She also won the discus. Makayla Kokonezis was also a double winner, taking the triple jump and high jump.
