The NBA playoffs are finally here, and the No. 2 Boston Celtics have their first-round opponent: the Orlando Magic. Game 1 tips off Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The Magic, who reached the postseason via the play-in tournament, are a tough, scrappy team that won’t be shy beneath the bright lights. Led by All-Star forward Paolo Banchero, the Magic are a feisty defensive team that can hang with the best. Banchero averaged 25 points, 7.5 rebounds, and more than four assists this season.

LYNN — Sometimes, all it takes is one inning for a game to break out. For Lynn Classical’s softball team, all it needed Friday morning was a big fifth inning to turn a deficit into a win against Lynn English. The Rams defeated the Bulldogs, 17-5. But it wasn’t easy. Trailing, 5-3, Classical scored 13 runs in the fifth for a commanding 16-5 advantage. “Classical started squaring up the ball well and hitting the gaps,” said English Coach Ashley Aldred.

I have coached tennis since I was 16,” said Mulcahy, who teaches social studies at Classical.

LYNN — Over the years, it’s often been a competitive game when the Lynn Classical and Lynn English baseball teams face off at Fraser Field – it’s tradition, after all. This time around, however, the Rams got the better of the Bulldogs in no time, winning by a score of 14-3.. Classical is a young team, but when its bats are on point, nearly everyone in the lineup is dangerous. The Rams were led by Dami Munoz (3-for-4, 3 R, 4 RBI) and Mark Walsh (2-for-3, 2 R, 3 RBI).

LYNNFIELD — Lynnfield’s boys tennis team ran its winning streak to seven with a dominant 5-0 win against visiting Pentucket (2-3) Wednesday afternoon to remain undefeated at 7-0 (4-0 Cape Ann League). However, it was far from easy. Both teams battled cold temperatures and blustery wind gusts from start to finish, which wreaked havoc on ball tosses. Senior captain Shea McCarthy said winning the wind battle was just a matter of patience and adjustment to normal routines.
