SNOWMASS, Co. (WJHL) — A group of veterans from the Tri-Cities is representing the Mountain Home VA at the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic in Colorado. Around 400 veterans from across the nation participate in a multitude of adapted sports activities like downhill skiing, sled hockey and snowboarding. “I’m not around veterans, you know, disabled veterans hardly at all,” Air Force veteran Greg Marlow, who’s from Telford, said.

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — Don Davis joined the Army to help him pay for school, but his short stint in the military set him up for a lifetime of service to others. “I wanted to go to ETSU and didn’t have any money, and it was very cheap back then to go to school, and they suggested I go talk to the recruiter,” Davis said. Davis joined the Army in 1959 and worked in the armored division, helping to get supplies to the frontlines. But then there was an accident.

(WJHL)- In 1986, Dolly Parton’s dream of what it would look like to replace the “H” in Hollywood with a “D” came true, and Dollywood was born. “I remember looking out my tour bus hoping that somebody was gonna come, and I’m amazed that the cars are still coming in,” Dolly Parton said in a video shown to the media Tuesday. “I’m very grateful.”As the park prepares to celebrate 40 years, leaders are including nods to the past while looking ahead to the future.
