UPDATE: The tornado that hit the Bangor area Tuesday afternoon was an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with 80-90 mph maximum winds, according to a National Weather Service storm survey conducted Wednesday. The twister touched down about 2 miles south of Bangor, just east of the village of Ackermanville in Washington Township, Northampton County, according to the weather service.

A tornado that hit the Bangor area Tuesday afternoon had 80-90 mph maximum winds and traveled for just over a mile, toppling trees and blowing off roof tiles, according to a National Weather Service storm survey conducted Wednesday. The tornado was an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which is the second-lowest category based on wind speed. EF-1 tornadoes have maximum winds between 86 and 110 mph.
