AUSTIN (KXAN) — As the severe weather season quickly approaches, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar told Texans they will be able to purchase certain items tax free during the state’s tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies. The holiday will begin at 12:01 a.m. on April 26 and will end at midnight on April 28, according to the press release.

AUSTIN (KXAN) - An Amber alert was issued Monday night for two children who were abducted in Rockdale, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety said it is actively looking for 5-year-old Emmett Castilleja and 6-year-old Appollo Castilleja. Authorities said the suspect was identified as 35-year-old Brittney Shields. If you have any information on their whereabouts, you are asked to call the Rockdale Police Department or 911.

GILLESPIE COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — The Crabapple Fire near Fredericksburg in Gillespie County prompted evacuations as it grew to more than 9,700 acres by Monday, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS). In a Monday evening update just after 8:00 p.m., TFS said the affected area was 9,737 acres and was now 85% contained. Earlier Monday morning in a 10 a.m. update, the fire had been 65% contained.

GILLESPIE COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — The Crabapple Fire near Fredericksburg in Gillespie County prompted evacuations as it grew to more than 9,700 acres by Monday, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS). As of 10 a.m. Monday, the affected area was 9,737 acres and 65% contained, according to TFS. “Crews worked the edges of the fire and any flare ups during the night,” Fredericksburg Fire Chief Lynn Bizzell said in a news release from the city on Monday.
