The Pampa Harvesters (0-4, 2-7) traveled again to Happy State Bank Stadium last night to face the Randall Raiders (3-1, 8-1). For just the second time this season, it was more like fall rather than summer with temperatures in the 60s at kickoff, dropping to the 50s by the end of the game. There was a little wind as well with gusts over 20 mph at the start but they calmed during the game. The clouds rolled in before kickoff to keep the sun away.

More than 2,000 community members visited more than 100 businesses that participated in this year’s Biz Boo event, held on Saturday, Oct. 21, and sponsored by the Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce. Participants were able to stop by businesses throughout Yorkville and enjoy various family-friendly activities, including the Touch-a-Truck, located in the NCG Theater parking lot.

Joliet will have its first woman city manager, Mayor Terry D’Arcy announced Tuesday. Beth Beatty, who has nearly 20 years of municipal experience in Chicago working with four mayors, will be the next city manager of Joliet. D’Arcy said the council made the decision during its closed meeting on Monday. An open vote has not been taken, but a contract for Beatty will likely be on the agenda for the next regular council meeting on Tuesday.

Northland Pioneer College (NPC) recently celebrated Indigenous Peoples’ Day with events at the college’s tribal locations in Holbrook, Hopi, Kayenta, Whiteriver, and Winslow on October 9, 2023. The events brought tribal and college leadership, staff, and students together, and paid tribute to the collaborative efforts and ongoing support between the tribes, NPC, and the communities the college serves.
