A man was charged with kicking a Joliet police officer who was responding to a crash. Jose Santana-Arias, 40, of Joliet was taken to the Will County jail on a charge of aggravated battery to an officer. The incident that led to his arrest was not related to the crash, said Joliet police Sgt. Dwayne English. About 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the crash at the intersection of North Hickory and Lime streets.

ANTIOCH -- A 23-year-old Beach Park man faces weapons charges in connection with bringing a loaded weapon to a party Oct. 28, authorities said. Police say the man brought a weapon loaded with green tip .223 rounds, known as “penetrator rounds” with enhanced ability to pierce through hard targets, to a party in Antioch, according to a village news release. SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Federal officials said Oct. 25 that conditions have improved on the Colorado River to the point that a plan by California, Arizona and Nevada to voluntarily reduce water use should help keep the river basin on stable footing for the next few years. The U.S. Department of the Interior said in a statement that the risk of reaching critically low water elevations at Lake Powell and Lake Mead, the river's two key reservoirs, has gone down substantially.

The Holbrook High School Football team is on a roll, and has been all season. They’re the top-ranked team in the 2A Little Colorado Region with a 7-0, 7-3 overall record. In their last seven games, only two opponents have put any points on the board. They’ve defeated opponents by margins of 40-to-50 points. Their last two games were no exception. Senior Services Associates is offering Matter of Balance, an award-winning program designed to manage fall risk and increase activity levels. The 8-week program will meet each Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon beginning on Nov. 2 at 908 Game Farm Road in Yorkville. Illinois Pathways to Health by AgeOptions has made this program free of charge and has trained staff at Senior Services Associates. Matter of Balance is a mix of exercise and education.
