    ST. CHARLES – The River Corridor Foundation of St. Charles will reunite with Alter Brewing Company for a fundraising event on Wednesday to support programs and projects along the Fox River. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the brewery, 12 S. First St. downtown, and will feature craft beer, food and a cash bar. $1 from every adult beverage sold during the event will benefit the foundation and help to support riverfront projects.

    SYCAMORE – Sycamore 2-year-old Oliver Olinger’s life looks a lot different now than at this time last year, his mom, Sami Olinger, said. For one, Oliver and his family received a police escort alongside about 150 motorcycle riders from Sycamore to St. Charles on Sunday to visit the St. Charles Motorcycle Museum. For another, Oliver’s acute myeloid leukemia, a type of blood cancer, is in remission. It’s been almost a year since he came home from an eight-month hospital stay.

    ST CHARLES – Hundreds of pickle fanatics gathered in Pottawatomie Park in downtown St. Charles Friday evening for the second annual Pickle Paradise. Pickles found their way into just about everything in the park, from beverages to candy. Several guests were even in pickle costumes. The main event of the festival was the Dill Dash, a 1-mile race around the park. About 70 runners competed.

    ST. CHARLES – Alibi Bar and Grill in downtown St. Charles will close its doors by end of July, to make way for new arcade bar Rec Haus. Self-service craft beer, arcade and leisure games, friendly competition and late-night entertainment are just a few offerings promised by the new business’ owner. St. Charles resident and soon-to-be Rec Haus proprietor Erik Gilly said people should expect the establishment to be far different from other bars or arcades they’ve visited.
