Maverick suffers from over 30 medical conditions, including Cri du Chat syndrome, which is a rare genetic disorder caused by a missing piece of a chromosome. National budget cuts to Medicaid and SNAP benefits could impact the state level programming.

The once-bustling mall will undergo redevelopment to include residential communities, national retail brands, and financial institutions. The project will also feature a new name: the Nexus at Regency. Before the redevelopment can start, Blackwater must address some outstanding issues from the previous owners.
