Roamer Coffee House opens new Sparks café with drive-thru and unique travel theme

The Reno-based coffee spot has opened a new location in industrial Sparks. Roamer Coffee House debuted its second spot at 726 Glendale Ave. on April 27. The coffee shop is uniquely Nevadan, with pages cut from old travel magazines making up the bulk of its wall decor. The café serves espresso drinks, pastries and more. Drinks range from $3.95 to $6.50. Pastry options include a cinnamon roll, chocolate croissant and butter croissant, each priced at $4.50.

If you are a fan of hamburgers, then Wednesday, May 28, is a good day to grab one – it's National Hamburger Day. No one knows how May 28 became the unofficial hamburger holiday, according to the National Day Calendar, but its proximity to Memorial Day and the outdoor grilling season could be a reason. Hamburgers don't really need a special day as they are a staple of dining out and eating at home. Americans eat an estimated 50 billion burgers.
Yelp unveils its top burger chains in the US: 21 have Nevada locations

International Burger Day is May 28, and to celebrate, Yelp has compiled a list of the top 25 burger chains in the U.S. — 21 of which have locations in the Silver State. "Whether you're craving a classic cheeseburger, a gourmet stack, or a nostalgic drive-thru experience, there's a burger brand that hits the spot," Yelp said in a news release. A Nevada car show made the cut for USA Today’s list of the 10 best car shows in the country. Hot August Nights ranked No. 10 among readers’ choice award winners. The car show will take place between Aug. 1 – 10, during the dog days of summer. This year, the event will be held at the University of Nevada, Reno. It was previously hosted at the Grand Sierra Resort, but a billion-dollar capital improvement project at the hotel-casino prompted the venue change.
National Automobile Museum named among USA Today's 10 best car attractions

A Reno museum was named one of USA Today’s 10 best attractions for car lovers. The National Automobile Museum secured the No. 5 spot in the readers’ choice awards. The museum, which opened in 1989, is known for its vast collection of classic vehicles. The collection includes more than 200 automobiles collected by Bill Harrah, founder of Harrah’s Hotels and Casinos. One highlight is a 1907 Thomas Flyer 35 that won the 1908 New York to Paris Race.

Everything seemed to be flowing smoothly at Reno-Tahoe International Airport during the early hours of Wednesday — the deadline for obtaining a REAL ID to get through TSA. Wednesdays are among the slowest days at the Reno-Tahoe airport, according to Nicolle Staten, manager of public affairs. She suspects the low passenger volume is why the day was chosen for the roll-out. The airport added additional staffing to compensate for potential delays. More: REAL ID deadline is May 7.

Still searching for Trader Joe's viral mini canvas totes? The insanely popular bags were expected to return to the Summit mall store on May 6. Supply is limited and they're expected to sell out in minutes, a Trader Joe's staff member told the RGJ on May 5. The store opens at 8 a.m.The pink, blue, purple and green bags will again sell for $2.99 each, with a limit of four bags per customer. The mini totes caused frenzied shopping and long lines during previous releases.
