    The roads came alive with the sound of engines and the spirit of compassion on June 8 as members of Wing Riders SA and Steelwings SA joined by countless fellow bikers and the public, participated in a charity run for the Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre. This annual event, held at Kakiebos Pub & Grill in Rayton, attracted about 500 participants who rode more than 100 bikes and trikes, with several support vehicles – all united by a common cause.

    With about 400 state patients before him in the queue for prosthetic legs, Johan Mulder is now looking at alternative means to get back on his feet – literally. This 34-year-old boilermaker from Modder East Orchards lost both legs on March 1 when a tractor and slasher ran over him. The injuries to his legs were so severe that amputation was the only option. Despite several setbacks, Mulder left the hospital in good spirits and returned to work.

    A 26-year-old man appeared in the Delmas Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. The SAPS arrested him on June 13 while acting on a tip-off about suspicious activity in the area and did a targeted search. Officers found the man with a 9mm firearm with its serial number filed off, one magazine and 38 rounds of live 9mm ammunition. They confiscated the weapon and ammunition.

    Nhlanhla Tshabalala-Nkabinde has been admitted in the Tembisa Hospital since November of 2023 and is seeking out his loved ones. Tshabalala-Nkabinde is estimate to be 60 years old and is being treated at the hospital for memory loss. According to Lebogang Mogaila, a social worker at the hospital, the patient was found on the streets in a dazed state by police. After a futile attempt to find Tshabalala-Nkabinde’s family, he was admitted to the hospital.
