The Tigers didn’t ‘need’ another receiver, but they’ve got one. VIPDuring the last transfer portal window, Will Heldt was the topic of conversation, a highly-sought after defensive end that chose Clemson over big spenders LSU and Texas A&M. But while the Tigers waited on his decision, they landed another. On December 16, wide receiver Tristan Smith became the first real portal addition under Dabo Swinney. He spoke with Clemson247 in the following days, detailing his visit and decision.

Clemson redshirt freshman cornerback Tavoy Feagin is planning to enter the transfer portal when it opens next week, a source confirmed to Clemson247 on Monday afternoon. Feagin played 11 snaps in two games last season, taking a redshirt year. He has four years of eligibility. Feagin was with the Tigers in spring practice until Dabo Swinney told reporters he wasn't with the team for the spring game last weekend.

A thought occurred to me on Saturday afternoon while Dabo Swinney was talking about the transfer portal opening next week. While the rest of the country operates on a pretty standard spring practice schedule, Clemson starts and finishes earlier than most of the rest. For a program that puts so much attention on retention — that rhymed — it shouldn't come as a surprise that the Tigers want to have a little over a week to digest spring ball and the plan moving forward.

Clemson wrapped up its month of workouts with the annual spring game on Saturday afternoon — the Tigers' offense and defense competed in an untelevised scrimmage with head coach Dabo Swinney mic'd up throughout the afternoon. Of course, the final score doesn't matter. What does matter is what happened on the field.
