As immigration arrests get growing attention in Connecticut, previously unreported information about a couple of high-profile state cases have emerged. To meet demands from the Trump administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have accelerated arrests in recent weeks, reports have indicated, and at least two of them have come in Connecticut. HAMDEN - Shelly Carter has been chosen as the town's next fire chief, becoming the first woman and first person of color to hold the position, officials said. Her appointment, pending approval by the Hamden Legislative Council, comes just six weeks after former Chief Jeffrey Naples retired from the department and took a deputy chief role in North Haven. Carter has been serving as acting chief since his departure.
