    The Boise staple Westside Drive-In has big plans for its patio on State Street. About a month ago, Chef Lou Aaron said he was informed that Westside was one of 50 restaurants across the country to receive a Backing Historic Small Restaurants Grant. Something Aaron said a customer had just emailed him about saying, “Hey, you should apply for this contest.”Now it’s paying off.

    A Garden City eatery and pub has closed its doors. On Monday, Twisted District Brew Co. at 3840 W Chinden Blvd. posted on social media about closing “until further notice.” Then a day later in a follow-up Instagram post, Twisted District announced it was closing for good. Co-owner Ed Danti says there were a few factors that pushed them to this tough decision including the current economy and losing a leased liquor license after it was sold by the owner.

    A Treasure Valley coffee chain is setting up shop in McCall. A social media account named Flying M Coffee McCall popped up recently. Posts on the page show the team working on a remodel and teasing the coffee shop’s newest lakeside location. The Flying M website lists the McCall spot at 314 E. Lake St. where the old Payette Dream Coffee House and Diner was. Before that, it was a Moxie Java.

    Crews started working on land on the northwest corner of Middleton and Karcher roads in Nampa. A Burger King is planned for the site at 11110 W Karcher Road. The plan calls for a roughly 3,400-square-foot restaurant with dine-in and drive-through space. For those that might not know, the fast-food restaurant has been around since the 1950s and sells Whoppers (a Burger King signature hamburger), Chicken Fries, french fries, and more.
