JOHANNESBURG - Deputy President Paul Mashatile said that parties in the Government of National Unity (GNU) had all agreed to back Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana's budget. The fiscal framework will be subject to Parliament's scrutiny in June, as MPs are set to vote for its adoption. This is going to be the second time the fiscal framework is voted on, as the previous one was set aside by the courts.

She said that the appointment of the chairpersons of the SETA boards was also "beyond reproach" despite withdrawing the names following a public outcry.

Mashatile was again forced to address claims of corruption and media reports in Parliament, dismissing them as mere allegations. Mashatile said that changes to the laws that were passed by both houses of Parliament had to go through the same process.
