COPS catch four men red-handed brewing fong kong booze in Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha, on Friday, 1 November. The alcohol was bottled in containers of a well-known brand with falsified labels. Recently, boozers took to social media to complain about counterfeit liquor. One resident, who spoke to Daily Sun, said he always suspected they were drinking fake alcohol sold at kasi taverns.

FINALLY, a chance to become men. Men who missed their chance for traditional initiation are finally getting their moment. Cape Town-based non-profit, Somagwaza Institute, is stepping in to help. Chairman, Sikelela Zokufa, said the aim is to restore men's dignity. Some men, who over 40, shared their stories with the SunTeam, expressing relief and gratitude for Somagwaza's support. Zokufa expects to take over 30 men to the mountain.

MSIMELELO Bekwa is lucky to be alive. This after his girlfriend allegedly tried to set him alight in his shack in Khayelitsha, Cape Town on Sunday, 27 October. Speaking to Daily Sun, Msimelelo said he had to break the door of his shack when he realised there was smoke in the shack. Though he survived, the fire destroyed six other shacks, killing two people. Msimelelo said his girlfriend got angry as he had found a job on a farm outside Cape Town and didn’t want him to go.

SOMAGWAZA Institute said it's aware of the complaints by parents that when their kids go to the mountain for initiation, they come back taking alcohol and even drugs. Sikelela “Ndlovu” Zokufa, the founder of the organisation that focuses on preserving and conserving the tradition of traditional male circumcision, said they've put measures in place to address the concerns raised by parents.
