A Saanich farm owner has been ordered to shut down unlicensed businesses, remove most RV residents, and reduce housing units on their rural property, after the District successfully argued the land was violating several municipal bylaws. According to a decision made by Supreme Court Justice Kevin Loo on Wednesday, June 18, Nancy Kinney, who owns a 17-acre property on Old East Road, had contravened three zoning bylaws after the District of Saanich took her to court.

Esquimalt council is united behind making what would be the township's tallest building a reality. Council unanimously approved the first readings of an OCP amendment and a zoning bylaw amendment for a 21-storey, 63-metre-tall mixed-use building between Sussex and Saunders streets. The 335-unit building would boast 242 parking spaces, 413 residential bike parking spaces, an 18,500 square-foot public park and 2,500 square feet in retail space.

Ron Kirkwood, the Victoria Police Department officer who fatally shot 43-year-old Lisa Rauch in 2019, will be suspended for seven days without pay after an appointed adjudicator found that his use of force was not justified. On Thursday, June 12, retired judge Wally Oppal, the adjudicator of a public hearing looking into Rauch's death, delivered the disciplinary decision against Kirkwood, along with a list of three non-binding recommendations for the province and VicPD to consider.
