Graduation events are in full swings at schools across the Ozarks, but one senior student in Houston, Missouri has another accomplishment worth celebrating. Meet Ben Steelman. He just received his senior-year plaque for perfect attendance. It’s the last one he’ll get, but it’s the final plaque in his collection of 12. Steelman is finishing his academic career with perfect attendance. 13 years of perfect attendance to be exact, if you include preschool.

ST. ROBERT, Mo. – A new tribute to the Mother Road is set to light up the night sky in St. Robert on Friday, May 9th. It’s called the Route 66 Neon Park and it’s located at George M. Reed Roadside Park in St. Robert. The park is the first of its kind in the Show Me State, featuring nearly a dozen restored neon signs that once stood along the Missouri portion of Route 66, paying tribute to the nostalgic roadside stops that once lined America’s most famous highway.

A couple in Springfield is left with rain pouring into what’s left of their home after a large tree fell during severe storms Tuesday morning. Ozarks First’s Bailey Strohl caught up with Matthew Smith and Elizabeth Daugherty as neighbors were trying to clear the mess. The tree was uprooted during the storms and winds knocked it onto the front corner of their home in the Cedarbrook Mobile Home Park in Springfield. Smith tells Ozarks First he was just feet away from being hit.

Two Ozarks businesses are making changes in response to trademark infringement lawsuits filed by Texas-based travel center chain Buc-ee’s. The first federal lawsuit was filed against Duckees Full Service Drive-Thru in Kimberling City on November 15, 2024. Buc-ee’s sues Missouri liquor store Duckees over trademark infringement According to court documents, the lawsuit accuses Duckees of violating a Buc-ee’s trademark by using a logo that closely mimics its cartoon beaver logo.
