Flourish near Bath listed as one of the best places to work in UK

Flourish Foodhall & Kitchen, which has two sites near Bath, has been listed as one of The Sunday Times’ Best Places to Work in the UK for 2025. Flourish, along with its wholesale partner Cotswold Fayre, has been accredited as one of the top medium-sized businesses for the second consecutive year. Flourish’s first site, at Glenavon Farm on the A4 at Saltford, opened in 2021.
Man appears in court charged with offences including stalking

A 27-year-old man has appeared in custody before Bath magistrates, charged with stalking, harassment and causing criminal damage. Jordan Brenner is accused of stalking his former partner, who the court heard is pregnant, causing her serious alarm or distress. Incidents are said to have occurred between 26th March and 26th May.

The Housing Assembly brings together representatives from every aspect of the housing system in the district.
Friends extend invite to summer fair at Combe Down Surgery

The Friends of Combe Down Surgery will be celebrating their 20th anniversary with a grand summer fair this month. Over the years, the Friends have purchased a variety of equipment to improve the service the surgery can offer its patients. They have also bought and continue to fund a patient minibus used to get elderly and infirm patients to their appointments at the main surgery. The summer fair will be held in the garden of Combe Down Surgery on Saturday 21st June, from 10am to noon.
Advertising screen near junction doesn’t have planning consent

A digital advertising screen has been installed without planning permission next to traffic lights at a busy crossroads, we can reveal. Concerned readers have contacted the Bath Echo about the positioning of the outdoor video screen on top of the new marketing suite at the former Bath Press site. The screen is at the junction where Windsor Bridge Road and Brook Road meet Lower Bristol Road.
Suspended jail sentence for drunk who assaulted paramedics

A 51-year-old man who assaulted two paramedics in Bath after hitting “rock bottom” with his alcohol problem has been given a suspended prison sentence and ordered to pay them compensation. At his hearing at Bath Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 28th May, Leon Morrison gave his address as Gloucester House in Highworth, Swindon, which is a rehab centre where he has been staying since early December.
Army reservist ordered to pay pub worker after admitting GBH

An Army reservist wrote a five-page letter of apology to Bath Magistrates’ Court for his behaviour after a pub worker in the city suffered a fractured jaw and broken ankle. At the court on Wednesday, 28th May, 31-year-old Jonathan Wheelhouse admitted causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) without intent to Rubin Leiper-Gill at The Grapes in Westgate Street on 12th June last year. CCTV footage of the incident outside the pub was played to the court.
Memorial event planned for much-loved manager of Keynsham restaurant

A memorial gathering will be taking place next month at the Empire of India in Queens Road in Keynsham in honour of the restaurant’s manager who died earlier this month. Alongir Miah, known to many as Alon, passed away on Friday 9th May. His funeral was held privately in accordance with Islamic traditions. However, there will be a memorial open to everyone to remember and honour him on Sunday 22nd June at 6pm.
Campaign raises thousands for retired teacher after fire devastates his Willsbridge home

A fundraising campaign for a retired South Gloucestershire teacher whose home was gutted in a blaze earlier this month has so far generated donations totalling more than £6,600. Nicole Shellard launched the GoFundMe campaign after the devastating fire at her neighbour Frank Woodman’s home in Bath Road, Willsbridge, on the evening of Tuesday 20th May. The fire also damaged three sheds and fire investigators believe the cause was accidental.
Public wildlife pond being proposed at Peasedown St John

There are plans to create a new wildlife pond at a public open space in Peasedown St John. A planning application has been submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council for the new 10-metre-wide pond at Ecewiche Green. It would have protection fencing, a new pedestrian access path and three bench areas. The proposals have been lodged by Peasedown St John Parish Council. Ecewiche Green is one of five protected Open Green Spaces in the village.
