The Stockport Pyramid is all set to become the Royal Nawaab banqueting hall, after it received the final planning approval from Stockport Metropolitan Council. Extensive refurbishment plans will turn the head-turning building, just off the M60, into a restaurant and events space over several floors.

World-renowned rock photographer Scarlet Page is to unveil a retrospective of her career at this year’s Manchester Art Fair, including a raft of previously unseen work. Page, who has photographed some of the most iconic rock stars of the past 30 years – from Oasis and Foo Fighters to Robbie Williams – will also be appearing in conversation at this year’s event. The fair takes place from 15 to 17 November at Manchester Central and various other venues across the city, with tickets on sale now.

Manchester’s chef of the year Shaun Moffat is to take to the stoves at Canal Street’s Maya, it’s been announced. Having previously scored critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Castle in Ancoats and the Lamb of Tartary in the Northern Quarter, Moffat will be bringing his modern British style to the space later this month. Of the new role, Shaun told Manchester’s Finest: “I’m really chuffed to be taking the helm of Maya’s kitchen and to be getting my teeth stuck into it, as it were.

Celebrated Stockport restaurant Where The Light Gets in is coming to Manchester for a series of pop-up events, kicking off next month. The project will be called Where The Light Gets In: A Play in the City, and will see chef Sam Buckley’s crew arrive in Manchester to embrace cooking, film screenings, foraging, talks, banquets, pickling, butchery and all manner of other food-based creativity.
