    GALENA, Mo. – The outcomes of this week’s elections for mayor and two aldermen of Reeds Spring are expected this afternoon. The race results, complicated by heavy voting for write-in candidates, are being determined by hand counting today in Galena, the county seat of Stone County. Denise Dickens, Stone County Clerk, said results likely would be posted on her office’s website later on Friday, April 11. Of the 177 votes cast for mayor of Reeds Spring, Jimmie Leach garnered 32 votes.

    SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Police Department says two people were shot late Saturday night at a strip club. Just after 10 p.m. on Saturday night, Springfield Police responded to a report of a shooting at Softails adult entertainment club at 620 W. College Street in downtown Springfield. SPD confirmed with Ozarks First that one of the shooting victims suffered serious injuries, but they are in stable condition. The other victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.

    AURORA, Mo. — One person was arrested following a shooting that occurred in Aurora on Sunday night. According to a press release from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a reported shooting in the area of Lawrence 1210 and Lawrence 2240. When deputies arrived, they found a male victim dead in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the body.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Missouri State University will break ground on a new advancement center on April 1. The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. at the site of the future building, across from the Davis-Harrington Welcome Center, on the northwest corner of National Avenue and Bear Boulevard. The Clifton M. Smart III Advancement Center will serve as the home base for university advancement, the Alumni Association and the Missouri State Foundation.

    CASSVILLE, Mo. – The quadruple-murder case against a woman accused of running down a group of motorcyclists in Lawrence County in 2023 has been suspended as the court awaits the results of a mental examination. Barry County Judge Alan Blankenship suspended the case after an order for a mental exam of Theresa Manetezke was submitted to the Missouri Department of Mental Health on March 12. Blankenship is hearing the case on a change of venue from Lawrence County.
