    The Royals found a sweet spot in their schedule, and have used it to get into a groove after a sketchy first few weeks of the season. Starting Friday, the Royals continue their homestand by opening a series against the Boston Red Sox (20-19). Kansas City sits at 23-16, third in AL Central. They trail the Tigers (25-13) and Guardians (22-15). This may not sound spectacular on the surface, but it certainly has quelled the feelings of worry for fans who saw the team struggle early in the season.

    SPRINGFIELD — Officers responded to the apartment complex after reports of shots being fired late Thursday night. Around 10 p.m. officers were called to investigate a disturbance at Kensington Park Apartments on 1735 W. Bennett. Police say shots were fired from a vehicle driving by, but were not able to confirm how many shots were fired. Police say the scene was clear when they arrived.
