EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed a new law requiring individuals charged with domestic violence to wear a monitoring device as a condition of bail. Senate Enrolled Act 324, which was signed on Tuesday, also states that those who commit acts of domestic violence cannot make bail for 24 hours after their arrest. "Giving survivors extra time to figure out their safety plan is really important," explained Kristine Cordts, Executive Director at Holly's House.

HENDERSON, Ky, (WEVV) — The Tri-State area is honoring and mourning fallen military service members this Memorial Day. One of the most touching tributes occurred in Henderson, where over 6,000 crosses were displayed in honor of those who have fallen. Community members gathered at Central Park on Monday morning, continuing a tradition that has been observed for the past 75 years. "It started in 1947. My daddy and grandfather both helped put these crosses up, and there weren't more than 20 crosses.

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEVV) — One local veteran is honoring those who paid the ultimate sacrifice by displaying flags at Smothers Park. Owensboro resident Derek Van Tuyl, a former medic in the U.S. Army, lost many of his friends while deployed in both Iraq and Afghanistan. About four years ago, he decided to honor them with a touching display of American flags. Today, the display has grown to include over 120 flags, with each flag representing a man or woman who gave their lives for their country.

MORGANFIELD, Ky. (WEVV) — Officials in Union County are currently working to clear and organize debris fields following Friday's tornadoes. Union County Emergency Management released new information on Monday concerning volunteers, donations, and debris removal. Residents who can move their debris to the edge of the roadway are asked to separate it into three distinct piles: vegetative debris, construction and demolition materials, and recyclable materials.
