Global law firm Dentons has named 10 new partners in its UK, Ireland and Middle East partner promotions round, a slight decrease from 2024. This year’s cohort was two fewer than last year and three fewer than in 2023, though it was higher than in 2022 when nine made the grade. Although the firm did not issue a diversity breakdown of this year’s promotions, six of the new partners are women. The promotions will take effect from May.

Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has promoted 19 lawyers to the partnership as it gears up for its merger with US firm Kramer Levin to go live in June. The total is significantly reduced from 2024’s 27-strong partner promotion round and is in keeping with other firms also having announced reduced partner classes this year, including Eversheds Sutherland and Taylor Wessing. HSF promoted 32 partners in 2023 and 34 – its largest partner class on record – in 2022.
