Military aircraft will take to the skies close to Cambridgeshire for rehearsals ahead of the 80th anniversary celebrations of VE Day. The flypast rehearsal is likely to take place on Monday, April 28th, if the weather forecast remains good. The rehearsal could be moved to Tuesday, April 29, if the weather is bad. The flightpath of the rehearsals shows the aircraft will past close by to parts of Cambridgeshire including Wisbech if you are interested in catching a glimpse of the flypast.

Repeat child sex offender jailed for 12 years as victim left 'unable to be alone'

A child sex offender has been jailed for 12 years after two women came forward to Essex Police in 2022 to disclose the historic offences he committed. Lloyd Prior, 36, of Broom Knoll in East Bergholt was accused of multiple sexual offences by two women, who were children at the time, between 2005 and 2013. Prior pleaded not guilty at Chelmsford Crown Court on January 20 2025. After his trial, the jury found him guilty of 10 charges.
'High-risk sexual predator' deemed danger to teenage girls handed court order

A man deemed a danger to teenage girls has been given a strict court order to restrict his behaviour for five years. Amadu Tavares, 23, of Watergall, Bretton, Peterborough, was given a sexual risk order (SRO) at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on Thursday (April 24). An SRO is a civil order that can be placed on someone who has not been convicted or cautioned of any offence but is thought to pose a risk of harm.
Person dies after being hit by train on railway line near Cambridgeshire

A person has died after being hit by a train on a railway line between Ely and King's Lynn in Norfolk. Emergency services were called to an area of the line in Wiggenhall St Germans at around 12.50pm today (Thursday, April 24) after receiving reports of a casualty. All lines between Ely and King's Lynn were closed to allow for emergency services to attend to the scene. Paramedics and officers attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
