KANSAS CITY, KAN. — Dairy Farmers of America formulated a better-for-you chocolate milk that it said features more protein and less sugar. The company made TruMoo Zero with whole milk and noted it offers 50% more protein (13 grams per serving) than regular chocolate milk while containing no added sugar. “We know that many consumers today are interested in increasing protein consumption and reducing sugar intake,” Dairy Farmers of America chief marketing officer of dairy brands Rachel Kyllo said.

TILLAMOOK, ORE. — Ahead of summer, Tillamook County Creamery Association’s formulators created a pair of new sweet and savory ice cream flavors – Salty Caramel Pretzel and Apple Crisp – that will only be available for a limited time. The farmer-owned cooperative shared that the Salty Caramel Pretzel flavor combines a salted vanilla ice cream base with “chocolatey covered” pretzel bits and salted caramel.

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO - Chobani, LLC is investing $500 million to expand its manufacturing plant in Twin Falls. Once completed, the plant will increase production by 50%, according to the company. Specifically, the expansion will add another 500,000 square feet of space, bringing the total square footage of the plant to 1.6 million square feet where 24 production lines will operate. The plant makes items such as yogurt, oat milk alternatives and coffee creamers.

CHICAGO — International snack and food manufacturer Mars, Incorporated, partnered with its longtime dairy supplier, Fonterra, to launch a sustainability-focused program designed to help dairy farmers reduce emissions. Mars announced it pledged $27 million for its Farmer Forward Program, a five-year investment the company said it will utilize to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through climate-smart agriculture practices.
