A 17-year-old is dead and two other people are listed in fair condition following an Easter shooting in Streator last night. Just before 6:00 p.m., Streator Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Main St. and Sterling St. about possible gunshots. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found evidence that confirmed multiple shots had been fired in this area. Two vehicles were identified as having been involved. One of the vehicles involved was located at OSF in Streator.

Who's responsible for setting the policy regarding transgender high school athletes in Illinois – the federal and state governments, or the Illinois High School Association? There seems to be disagreement among the parties as to whose job it is. Lawmakers sent a message to IHSA, asking how it plans to comply with President Donald Trump's executive order on the issue.

It's a day they've been working for, for at least two years, and in some cases more. IVCC will hold its annual commencement ceremony at noon on Saturday, May 17, in the IVCC gym. About 200 students will get their degrees or certificates during the event. Additional ceremonies will be held in the coming weeks for paramedics, as well as nursing, dental healthcare, and adult education students. The commencement will follow the registered nurse pinning ceremony at 10 that morning.

The River Bend Food Bank will be offering another mobile food pantry at the Bureau County Fairgrounds. It's set to take place next Thursday, April 24,in Princeton. Registration runs from 9:15 to 10 a.m., and distribution starts at 10. Distribution will be inside, and the process can take up to two hours. And it's a good idea to take along a laundry basket to carry your food home.

Peru firefighters were called to a chicken coop fire early Thursday morning. At about 1:15, dispatchers sent first responders to 2930 Meridian Road. The after-action report says that upon arrival, the coop was found to be fully involved and had spread to the main structure. Crews evacuated all residents and put out the fire in the outside structure within two minutes. Firefighters were on scene for about two hours.
