Oglesby's new renewable-energy project is in place and the ribbon's been cut at the solar-array area behind the fire station. The project has taken about seven years from idea to completion. Oglesby's array is made up of several long structures of solar panels. This project is one of nine around Illinois, and the city is one of 32 communities taking part in IMEA. The Oglesby project is a 500-kilowatt-generating site. It's expected to produce almost 700 Megawatt Hours in its first year of production.

No injuries were reported following a prolonged vehicle pursuit that resulted in a minor two-vehicle accident involving a La Salle County Sheriff's patrol vehicle. At about 1:40 Tuesday morning, they arrested 30-year-old Damien Johnson of Ottawa. Johnson reportedly had a child in the vehicle during the incident.

Be on the lookout for high school seniors on bicycles in and around Mendota on Friday. A beloved tradition will be happening as the students wrap up their school years in Mendota. The seniors will be riding their bikes to school one last time, and this could lead to some congestion on streets and roads, including Route 52 and Illinois 251. Consider allowing extra time to get where you're going, just in case.

Streator police dealt with a couple of reported domestic issues Wednesday. At about 3:30, in the 1700 block of North Bloomington, 23-year-old Cheyenne Pratt of Streator, was arrested on a charge of domestic battery. Pratt was taken to the La Salle County Jail. A couple of hours later, 20-year-old Jermey Erschen of Streator was arrested in the 800 block of North Jackson Street. He was taken in on a charge of domestic battery and he remains locked up in the La Salle County Jail.
