Teachers and administrators with Midland Community Unit School District 7 continue to push ahead with talks aimed at reaching a contract agreement. The two sides have been meeting since February, and the teachers' current agreement is set to expire in mid-August. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for tomorrow morning through Monday night. Peak heat indexes are expected to reach at least a hundred degrees over the next few days. And, as the mercury rises, so will the amount of moisture in the air. We're not expecting much of a break when the sun goes down, either – Overnight lows are projected to be in the mid-70s. This will be the first multi-day heat episode of the summer. You're urged to plan ahead for heat safety.

A routine traffic stop turned into something much bigger last night in Streator. According to police, an officer pulled over a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the traffic stop, a police canine detected narcotics. Police say the driver, 23-year-old Cheyenne Pratt of Streator, was in possession of an amount of a suspected controlled substance and a blue-steel .22 revolver. Police say the gun had been reported stolen.

Princeton's free and family-friendly Street Concert Series kicks off Friday night with music, food and art, right on South Main Street. And it's a big lead-in to a big weekend in the Bureau County seat. Country singer Mae Estes will take the stage at 6 p.m. Catch her performance now, before she appears at the Grand Ole Opry next week. Bring out your inner artist by painting a tile that will become part of a community mural project with the Princeton Public Arts Commission.

The annual Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run is set to happen on Saturday. The ride started back in 2004. It honors the nation's fallen heroes and supports fallen troops. If you want to ride, it'll cost you $20. The event starts at the Grundy County Fairgrounds and heads to the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial in Marseilles. Lineup starts at 6 a.m. Breakfast will be available from 6 to 9:30. The ride leaves at 10:30 and arrives in plenty of time for a 12:00 Noon ceremony at the memorial.
