LUGOFF, S.C. — A South Carolina teacher is dead after an accident in Kershaw County on Saturday. Authorities say the accident happened around 11:43 a.m. on Saturday on I-20 east near the 93 mile marker, where a the driver of a 2006 Ford F150 was hit in the rear. The driver, Jalen Benjamin of Rock Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say the 29-year-old was a school teacher and the baseball coach at Legion Collegiate Academy in Rock Hill.
One dead after tractor-trailer accident on I-26 in Orangeburg County

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — One person is dead after a single vehicle accident on I-26 in Orangeburg County on Monday. Troopers with South Carolina Highway Patrol say the accident happened at 6:10 pm Monday on I-26 Westbound at the 148 mile marker, about eight miles north of Orangeburg. Troopers say the driver of a 2013 Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on I-26 when the vehicle traveled off right side of road and struck a tree.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The death of a 3-year-old child who died after initially being reported missing last week was a tragic accident, according to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott. Lott said the 3-year-old, who was identified by the Richland County coroner as Armani Shoemaker, was at home on Parliament Lake Drive with another adult last Friday while her parents took another child to a doctor's appointment.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — After being closed due to a foul odor last Friday, Brennen Elementary School has reopened. While the precise cause of the odor was not determined, officials no hazardous materials were found during an inspection but several items were cited that could have contributed to the odor. Officials say the building services staff and outside contractors completed their work in investigating the odor on Sunday.
