ST PAUL, Minn. — Prosecutors said a Twin Cities man threw a puppy out a window to its death and trashed a St. Paul apartment in November. Jake William Scandrett, 27, of Blaine, is charged with animal torture and 1st-degree property damage in connection with the incident on Nov. 30 at an apartment on George Street in St. Paul. Last week, Ramsey County prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for Scandrett.

BIG LAKE, Minn. — A police officer in the northwest metro gave new meaning to "Year of the Snake" this Memorial Day weekend. A photo of Big Lake Police Department Officer William Saliterman holding a big dead snake was recently featured on the department's Facebook page. The department said the large boa constrictor was found along a roadway in Big Lake after apparently being struck by a vehicle.
