Busy weekend moving start times for Minnesota Twins

MINNEAPOLIS — A couple of baseball games are beginning earlier than planned to accommodate a busy weekend of Twin Cities' sports. Minnesota Twins officials announced Monday they're moving the first pitch for their Friday and Sunday games in an effort to alleviate the traffic in and out of downtown Minneapolis due to the Los Angeles Lakers being in town. Friday's Twins versus Los Angeles Angels game at Target Field will start at 6:40 p.m. rather than 7:10 p.m. as previously scheduled.
Moorhead Police asking for help finding missing teen

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Moorhead police are asking for the public's help finding a teen who has gone missing this past weekend. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) issued an alert Monday afternoon for Arissa Mohamad, 14, of Moorhead. Authorities said the teen is believed to have left her residence Easter Sunday morning or Saturday night. "There is concern for her immediate health and safety," the brief news release stated.

WEST ST PAUL, Minn — Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding a woman being held against her will in the Twin Cities. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and West St. Paul Police Department are helping the Sioux Falls Police Department find Shalene Ball, 35. "She is believed to be endangered as law enforcement has received information that she is being held against her will," stated the BCA alert issued Saturday morning.

ST PAUL, Minn — A gorilla at the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory was euthanized after battling damage caused by an infection. Nyati, a western lowland gorilla, passed away on Tuesday following "a significant decline in her quality of life due to long-term neurological complications," according to a news release from the zoo. Born at the zoo in 2017, Nyati was diagnosed with Baylisascaris procyonis in 2020.

MSP closing 1 of its 4 runways for safety improvements

MINNEAPOLIS — One of the four runways at will be closing at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) next week for runway safety improvements. The "12R-30L" is MSP's 10,000-foot, east-west parallel runway located on the south side of Terminal 1. The safety construction plans require the runway to be closed for two different periods in 2025. For the first phase, the runway will temporarily shut down Monday, April 14 and reopen on Friday, May 23. The second closure is from Monday, Aug.

ST PAUL, Minn — The street sweeping season returns to St. Paul beginning Monday, April 14, bringing with it the possibility of vehicles being ticketed and towed. St. Paul Public Works' crews will sweep and clean more than 530 miles of residential streets and more than 2,200 alleys. The operation will take about six weeks, according to a city of St. Paul news release. Crews will post temporary "No Parking" signs 24 hours in advance of their sweeping job.
