FRANKENMUTH, MI — Dust off your leg warmers and tease up your hair — the 20th annual Bringin’ Back the 80s Festival returns with two nights of music and nostalgia in Michigan’s “Little Bavaria.” The festival kicks off Friday, April 25, from 6 p.m. to midnight, welcoming all ages (though some content may not be suitable for young children). Saturday’s event, held from 5 p.m. to midnight, is strictly ages 21 and up.

I was a little under the weather this week and craving something good — not just tasty, but something that could hug me from the inside. Call it luck or divine timing, but Pasong’s Café had just what I didn’t know I needed. It was porridge — with rice. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I hear “porridge,” I picture some fairy tale food from ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ — warm, mysterious, and probably too hot or too cold depending on your luck.
Hemlock’s Lockwood STEM Center partners with Kettering University to expand STEM access for students

HEMLOCK, MI — A new partnership between Kettering University and Hemlock Public School District’s Lockwood STEM Center aims to boost STEM education and career opportunities for area students. The two institutions entered into a five-year agreement, formalizing a collaboration that will benefit students from Lockwood-affiliated school districts, including Hemlock, Merrill, Swan Valley, St. Charles and Freeland, according to a Hemlock Public School District news release.

SAGINAW, MI — The 46th annual Cinco de Mayo celebration, hosted by La Unión Cívica Mexicana, will return to downtown Saginaw on Saturday, May 3. The event features one of the largest parades and cultural festivals in Michigan, according to organizers. The parade kicks off 10:30 a.m. at Hoyt Park and travels north along Washington Avenue.

FRANKENMUTH, MI — The Spice & Tea Exchange of Frankenmuth, a gourmet destination for herbs, spices, teas and culinary accessories, opened its doors earlier this year at Frankenmuth River Place Shops. The shop, located at 925 S. Main St., will host its grand opening celebration May 16-18. The new store brings handcrafted spice blends, more than 80 varieties of loose-leaf teas and a full-service tea bar to downtown Frankenmuth, according to a press release.
