WWTV-TV (Cadillac, MI)

WWTV, Channel 13, serving the Cadillac – Traverse City area, began broadcasting on January 1, 1954, under the ownership of Spartan Corporation from Jackson, MI. On September 1, 1958, The Fetzer Broadcasting Company from Kalamazoo, MI, acquired the station. Unfortunately, on January 24, 1961, WWTV's building was destroyed by a fire. The station made a significant change on May 15, 1962, when it switched its frequency from Channel 13 to Channel 9. In 1979, Wilson Communications took over ownership, and in 1986, Heritage Broadcasting Co of MI became the current owner. WWTV primarily affiliates with the CBS Television Network. The station's tower is situated at the highest elevation in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, standing at 1,704 feet above sea level. In addition, the antenna and tower structure reaches a height of 1,290 feet, making it one of the tallest structures in the Great Lakes region. WWTV operates with a transmission power of 45 KW ERP. WWTV broadcasts in color and stereo, with closed captioning available for its viewers.
