The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is putting the safety of troopers, first responders, and tow truck drivers front and center next week. OHP officials will focus on catching anyone violating the "slow down, move over" law. OHP says over the past three years, drivers have hit three troopers while they've been sitting on the side of the road with their lights on. There have also been tow truck drivers hit while helping stranded drivers.

Wednesday is the last day of summer for the Miller kids. They're all going back to school on Thursday, but News 9’s Bobbie Miller and her family had time for a last-second, final summer adventure. The Millers beat the Oklahoma heat that first week of August and took a road trip to Colorado Springs and packed in some adventurous hiking and even a cave tour. There's so much to do in that state, but Bobbie says she wanted to highlight the wide range you can enjoy from mountains to river canyons.

The council approved making the former Cox Convention Center into the new Thunder Arena, denied Oklahoma County’s new jail site, and are sending a raised hotel tax to the ballot. Thunder Arena ApprovedCity councilors approved a new agreement with the owners of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The agreement includes building a new arena. The new arena will be built where the former Cox Convention Center is.

Shots were fired Monday morning during a home invasion, Oklahoma City Police say. Officers are now searching for two suspects. The home is near Northeast 23rd Street and Kelley. The homeowner woke up to his dog barking, police say, and found two people in his home. The suspects, a man and a woman, had broken into the home. The homeowner confronted the suspects, and a suspect and the homeowner began shooting at each other, police say.

Pelican Bay in Edmond is one step closer to getting some upgrades. This comes after city leaders say the park leaked thousands of gallons of water a day over the past few summers. City leaders say Minor repairs were made over the winter months to reduce some of the water loss ahead of this season, which opens in one week. But now city leaders are looking at a more long-term solution, instead of constantly patching small issues.
