My baseball travels — some personal, some professional — have taken me to 22 of the current MLB stadiums. I first visited Comerica Park in 2015 and wrote:The tiger statues out front, the postcard-perfect downtown skyline beyond the outfield walls, the raucous fans totally committed to (and occasionally, totally frustrated with) the hometown heroes with the Old English “D” on their caps — all of these things add to the ambience of this 15-year-old baseball shrine.

Sharon Dunbar, 65, a member of the Richfield Church of the Nazarene in Otisville, Michigan, grew up in a one-television household. “My dad had control of the TV,” she said with a laugh, “and if you didn’t like watching the Pistons or the Red Wings or the Tigers, you weren’t watching nothing else.”Dunbar fell in love with the Tigers.
