A shooting near Riverview Drive and East Paterson Street just after 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, has turned fatal. Dequevion Markuise Brown, 29, of Kalamazoo was found unresponsive inside an apartment building after residents reported hearing a gunshot, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. It happened at 2:36 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at Canterbury House Apartments in Oshtemo Township, near the intersection of Drake Road and KL Avenue.

At 2:36 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies were called to the Canterbury House Apartments in Oshtemo Township after a report of a single gunshot being heard.     KALAMAZOO, MI — A man was found in contempt and spent the night in jail after an outburst in court, according to officials. Montine Wiley Sr., 51, was in court Thursday, May 22, in a hearing for a man charged with murdering his son, Montine Wiley Jr. During testimony, Wiley burst forward toward the alleged killer, Kaiden Cole, 18, and attempted to cross a court barrier. Deputies tackled him and held him down.
