A groundbreaking was held on Tuesday for the $27 million expansion that will transform the district’s middle/high school building into two stories, replacing the current 70-year-old single-story structure. The middle school will be on the first floor of the new building. The high school will be on the second floor.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Hundreds of people took to the streets of Kalamazoo Wednesday night to take a stand against gun violence. The march started at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Kalamazoo’s Northside neighborhood and marched toward Park Street. The group stopped in front of the house where Marktavion Perry-Bennett was shot and killed last week. A prayer vigil was held as the group gathered around family on the spot where Perry-Bennett was killed.

(WOOD) — The Kalamazoo Wings will continue their celebration of 50 years of hockey Saturday night at Wings Event Center, taking on the Toledo Walleye in the Warrior/ECHL Hockey Heritage Game. The K-Wings kicked off the day with interviews with NHL Network and welcomed fans to Fan Fest at the arena. The weekend also included the ECHL Hall of Fame Induction Friday night at the Radisson Plaza Hotel.
